A New Chapter in Civic Leadership

Redefining Local Leadership

Intashan Chowdhury, MPA is a nationally recognized government leader, award-winning innovator, and lifelong advocate for equitable, forward-thinking public service.

From his beginnings in civic engagement to becoming one of the youngest Borough Administrators in New Jersey, Intashan has dedicated his career to making government work better for everyone — by embracing technology, inclusion, and community-first values.

With a rare combination of heart and strategy, he’s not just serving communities — he’s transforming them.

From Purpose to Public Service

Raised with strong values of service, discipline, and community, Intashan’s journey into public life began early. A proud New Jersey native and son of immigrants, he saw firsthand how local government decisions impacted real families — and committed himself to making that system more responsive, inclusive, and innovative.

He went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master of Public Administration degrees from the Rutgers University School of Public Affairs and Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude and later being inducted into the prestigious SPAA Alumni Hall of Fame.

From Intern to Administrator

Intashan’s career began humbly — as an Administrative Assistant and Municipal Alliance Coordinator in the Borough of Prospect Park, where he managed community programs and coordinated public grant funding. His passion for process improvement and leadership quickly propelled him forward.

Over the years, he held pivotal roles in Franklin Township, Maplewood, and South Orange, steadily building a reputation for innovative governance. At just 26, he was appointed Borough Administrator of Prospect Park, managing a $6.5 million budget and leading transformational projects that placed his municipality on the map.
